Want to start from the beginning?

I've hit a 3-week streak! 🎉

Each week I'm feeling more confident about hitting my #minimummonetary, so I'm starting to shift my focus to surpassing it every single week as well.
The #challenge I'm facing now is an internal one.
How can I continue to #grow my business and expand my client list without it taking over my entire life? I want to work hard and #write a lot, but I don't want to let #stress creep in.
I don't want to spend every lunch hour working. I don't want to spend every week night burning the midnight oil. I don't want to sacrifice my weekends to #client work.
That simply means I need to make better use of my time during the day, and be selective about which lunches, evenings and weekends I work. Because at the end of the day, I really love what I'm doing – I just don't want it to be the only thing I'm doing.
I love other things, too.

tl;dr I've hit a 3-weeks streak with my minimum monetary. I want to keep the momentum going, but I'll need to be smarter about how I spend my time, so I'm not a 24/7/365 working machine.

This has been a busy week, but with the long holiday weekend, all I want to do is be outside! So, I'm planning some outdoor days and pool-side work stations for next week. 💦
Speaking of next week, I have a lot of a goals to hit 🏁. My #monetary #conditional is going up, and even though my #popularity and #engagement conditionals have been stagnant, I'll be working on them quite a bit.
I've been doing well in the triple digits lately 💰, but next week's requirement is getting close to the top of my monetary history. In short, it will be #challenge.
In the meantime, I've been focusing on my #minigoals, and have made some great #progress:
  • Drafted new Medium article to finalize and publish on Monday 📆
  • Reaching out to friends 🙏 to ask for an intro to Entrepreneur editor
  • I have a general idea for my pitch to The Spruce, but need to clarify it more 🤔
  • Outlined article for PopSugar; need to write ✍️ and submit next week
  • I've identified a few hotels, but really need to hone my hotel stay pitch 🤫

For now, I'm taking the rest of the weekend off to rest, relax, and enjoy the weather ☀️😎⛱

tl;dr Next week is a big challenge to break a monetary record that I haven't been hitting. I feel good about my mini goals, but am ready to relax over the long holiday weekend, first.

I've been doing mostly short burst of streaming. With the exception of my 24 hour stream and a few occasional streams, most sit between the 1-3 hour mark.
So, this week I'm embarking on a new #challenge. Pig Pilots is all about testing out new strategies and approaches, including those that put me outside my #comfortzone. In that spirit, I'll be streaming 10 hours every day this week.
That's a total of 50 hours alone this week. Which is on par with what all the #videogamstreamers who 'made it' said it took in the early days. And these are the #earlydays.
Beginning this morning, I'll be streaming from 2:30pm ET on-wards. 😳

tl;dr Streaming 10 hours a day every day this week.

Now that I've had some sleep, it's time to reflect on the #24hourgamingmarathon
I have to admit, I completely doubted myself. I'm a person who loves to sleep, so the idea of staying up for 24+ hours made me want to vomit.
I didn't think I could even play for that amount of time, especially since I had never played #videogames for more than maybe 6 hours.
But... I did it!
As you can tell in that photo, I look zonked! I was ready to pass out, but I learned a lot about games, what I like, connecting with people online, and I think I actually improved tremendously in just a day.
After getting over the initial shock of completing this #challenge, I think there are a few lessons to be learned and insights I've walked away with. Here are the top 3:
  • Marketing is still a big deal 📣
  • Not everyone belongs on the stream 🙅
  • Believe in the impossible 🦄
Every time I had a surge of new viewers on my stream and had a chance to chat and connect with new folks, it was a result of posting to Reddit or Instagram or elsewhere on the interweb. Just like any other industry or platform, you can't just build it and expect people to come. You have to invite them!
I had my first interaction with a challenging viewer. I anticipated trolls and meanie-faces early on in this #pilotidea, but this was my first encounter with (what I thought was) a well-meaning kid who was simply interrupting the stream. I'd call myself someone who doesn't like letting people down, so it was really hard to say no and block the user from chat. Especially, when the user kept creating alternate accounts to rejoin. But I feel like I handled it well and stuck to my guns rather than indulging a user for more viewers. Goes to show that the community I want on my channel isn't for everyone.
It seems kind of ridiciulous in a venture about doing what seems impossible, taking big risks, and getting outside my comfort zone, that I would even need to remind myself, but hey, I'm a human, too. It's still hard to believe what others have claimed impossible or even what I've told myself is an impossibility. A week ago, I would have absolutely announced that a 24-hour stream was impossible, and yet, here I am, on the other side of that challenge.
The best news is I met another conditional, 🙌 more in the next post.

tl;dr I streamed and played video games for 24 hours straight. I learned that marketing is a big piece of the puzzle, not everyone is good fit for my streams, and it's still hard to believe in the impossible... even when you're in the middle of doing it.
